Jazzu Kissa, which is Japanese for ‘Jazz Café’, are small, cozy, cafes found throughout Japan. These small cafes are intimate places that allow their visitors to enjoy a good coffee, and more importantly, great jazz music.

The second volume of GATEWAY TO JAZZ KISSA closely examines the “Eagle”, a Jazz Kissa located in Yotsuya, Tokyo. “Eagle” is one of the few remaining Jazz Kissa that can be called truly traditional. This volume also seeks to answer what it a Jazz Kissa really is by further exploring the culture, and history of this wonderful aspect of Japanese music culture.
